Louis X, King of France, was the first famous tennis personality. He loved playing the game so much that he had indoor courts built in Paris around the end of the 13th century. The game he played was a bit different than the modern version, but then again, so was the manner in which they dressed for sport. Perhaps the fancy clothes and the wig contributed to his death, which occurred shortly after a particularly exhausting match. It also could have been poison. Tennis players can be pretty competitive.
