Pottery didn’t appear on the human scene until we gave up our nomadic wanderings. Why? Probably because it’s too difficult to do all the stuff required to make a pot when you’re busy chasing wildebeests with a spear. You have to find some good clay, for example, and then sit down long enough to form it into something before you toss it into the fire to cure. You also need something to store in it once you’re done, which goes a long way toward explaining why pottery and agriculture developed at the same time. What will you keep in yours?
